The Piggott School Sports Coaching Academy are currently recruiting for 2018/19. We have teamed up with The Reading FC Community Trust to develop a unique sports coaching programme, with the aim of developing talented young sports leaders. Whether you are interested in becoming a football coach, physical education teacher, sports manager or a fitness instructor, The Coaching Academy will give you the skills, knowledge and experience to develop your career as a sports leader.
The course combines a series of coaching awards with a level 3 Sports Coaching Dipoma, which is the equivalent of 1–A level. You can combine your study with another A-Level, which can provide a pathway to university and higher education or alternatively you can access apprenticeships or immediate employment opportunities in the sports leadership industry.
If you are in year 11 or know anyone who may be interested in joining our team of young coaches please contact Mr Freeman at freeman@piggottschool.org
Our brochure can be viewed on the school website and our sixth form open evening is on Wednesday 6th December.

Please note the following
The last few weeks have been incredibly busy with lots of activities happening all over the school. We had an action packed Activities Weekend at the end of June with Year 7 visiting Normandy, Year 8 going to Holland and a whole host of activities taking place for all year groups both on and off site. In addition we have also had a very successful Sports Day, a wonderful Summer Music Concert, an extremely impressive Art exhibition, a French Breakfast and the Business Studies Dragon’s Den event. We were also delighted to welcome 150 year 5 students from our feeder primary schools to our annual Language Day and all of Year 12 were put through their paces by local employers as they took part in mock interviews.
A celebration of sport at The Piggott School was welcomed by the pupils, parents and staff. The day could not have been more lovely for our school’s annual occasion of sporting triumph! Ms Creswell’s ice lollies, beautiful sunshine and the lush green grass of our school field filled the atmosphere with fun and relaxation for the excited spectators.

Year 7 Football Team Make History!
An enthusiastic and determined team of gymnasts and dancers, with the help and guidance of Miss Fellowes, put on two tremendous performances recently to raise money for ‘Reuben’s Fight’.
With the addition of a cake sale during the interval, the final total raised was £601. This achievement will be so vitally important in helping towards the cost of Reuben’s treatment. Thank you to everyone who supported this event.
