Mental Health and Well-Being
At The Piggott School, we recognise the growing concerns around children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing. Now, more than ever, it is vital that we work together to support our students in building resilience, developing healthy habits, and feeling safe to talk about their experiences. We are committed to making mental health a priority within our school community, ensuring that every child feels valued, supported, and understood.
During the last academic year, we spoke with both students and staff to gather their views on mental health and wellbeing in our school. From these conversations, we have created a Mental Health Pledge for our whole school community to work with. The pledge reflects the values and priorities shared by our young people and staff, and it represents our shared commitment to making wellbeing a central part of school life.

The pledge is a set of simple but powerful commitments designed to encourage positive habits, empathy, and resilience. Through the pledge, students are encouraged to:
- Recognise the importance of self-care.
- Reach out for help when they need support.
- Communicate openly and listen with empathy.
- Respect their own boundaries and those of others.
- Celebrate progress and kindness within our school community
Support for Mental Health
We work alongside BRIYM (Building Resilience in Young Minds) who are a team highly qualified therapists who work with young people and parents in and out of school to provide a range of programmes and workshops to help build resilience in young people. They also support teachers and parents to improve mental health of young people.
