Science

Vision

To inspire scientific thinking in our children enabling them to make sense of the world around them and prepare them for the ever-changing world that we live.

At Charvil Piggott Primary School, we achieve this by:

  • providing opportunities for all pupils to observe models and phenomena, make links and question scientific ideas and principles
  • communicate their ideas effectively, and confidently using specialist scientific vocabulary
  • be encouraged to take risks, experiment and make and learn from mistakes in a safe environment.

Intent

Science units have been formulated to provide learners with the opportunity to revisit, review and retrieve their scientific learning as well as to deepen their knowledge and prepare students for the next stages of their learning journey. Where appropriate, famous scientists are studied to deepen knowledge and understanding of the scientific concepts and skills.

Learning Journeys

The images below depict the learning journey within the three strands of Science, studied at Charvil Primary School. Please see the secondary school website, curriculum section, to see how this journey continues throughout KS3 and KS4.
