German Exchange September 2023

On Wednesday 20^th September, 21 students from Years 10, 11, 12 and 13 flew to Germany for a week to take part in the German Exchange, accompanied by Mrs Schgör, Mrs Rawlings, and Mr Hersent.  Our partner school is the Ville Gymnasium in Erftstadt (Wokingham’s twin town) near Cologne.  It was a busy week spent with the host families, some time in the partner school, day trips to Burg Eltz, Koblenz, Cologne cathedral and chocolate museum, Bonn and Königswinter, a boat trip along the Rhine, and our 6^th formers did some work experience in a local primary school.  Our students made the most of the experience, enjoyed practising their German and were superb ambassadors for our school – we received many compliments on their behaviour and enthusiasm for getting involved.

Twyford Charity 5k and Fun Run - Sunday 8 October at The Piggott

The Piggott School is once again delighted to be hosting the Twyford Together Charity 5K and Fun Run. As ever, it promises to be a terrific community get-together with races for all ages, seasonal stalls and fabulous prizes as well as novelty categories and activities. Parents and students can compete in the 5K which starts at 11:30am. And if you’re inclined to think Fun Run is an oxymoron and need a little incentive to register ...Twyford’s brand new boutique café, The Orangery, is giving away a mouth-watering chocolate platter experience for four. The winner will be drawn at random during the prizegiving from entries received in advance online. So, why not team up with friends and family for the best chance of winning. Press Release: A Level & Level 3 Vocational Results – The Piggott School

August 2023

Executive Headteacher Mr Gray is pleased to announce another outstanding set of A Level and Level 3 Vocational results for The Piggott School in each of our Academic and Vocational courses.

The staff and students have all worked exceptionally hard over the past two years and this is reflected in the outstanding grades awarded.

Our A level pass rate was 99% with an outstanding 34% of grades at A* & A.

63% of our results were graded at A*-B, and 83.5% graded A*-C. The average point score per A level entry was 39 points using the QCA system, making the average grade a B.

Our Vocational Level 3 pass rate for Applied General qualifications was over 100%, with Distinction Star to Merit being 87%.

This once again shows our outstanding sixth form as a centre of excellence for Academic and Vocational learning.

Zac Slocombe, Year 13, said ‘I’m feeling over the moon with an A* in Business, A* in Geography and an A in Economics. I am eternally grateful for all the help and support from my teachers. I am heading off to Manchester to study Economics and Finance.

Jess Peck and Lara Branston are excited to study at Cambridge in the new academic year. Jess said ‘I am feeling ecstatic and slightly overwhelmed to achieve 4 A*s. I am looking forward to starting a degree in Computer Science’. Lara achieved 2A*s and an A. She was elated and plans to study Geography at Cambridge from September.

I wish all our students the very best for the future and thank all the teaching and support staff for their continued dedication and professionalism.

Summer Concert 12^th July 7pm

Dear Parents and Carers

From Sunday 18 June through to Thursday 22 June the Haweli Twyford is once again very kindly donating 10% of food orders to the Piggott School PTA.  Definitely a good excuse for a night off cooking!

In preparation for the coronation our students will be exploring what the coronation is, what it means, and the role of the King. The coronation is an important opportunity to celebrate together but it also offers an opportunity for us to reflect and be grateful for what we have and for us to offer support for our community. As such I would like to signpost a useful website that raises awareness of volunteering – The Big Help Out. The objective of the Big Help Out is to inspire people to make a difference and to bring communities together through celebration and community spirit. We would love our students and their families to get involved as we continue to promote our vision of ‘Go and Do Likewise.’
