Swimming at Leisure Connection

"The council is disappointed to learn that the government has ceased funding for free swimming for the over 60s and under 16s.  We  would have dearly liked to have been able to offer free swimming until March next year but as the council’s resources are already every constrained we cannot carry on with this scheme past July without government funding.

However we are working with our contractor Leisure Connection to provide favourable rates so that our resident can continue to swim at a reasonable cost at all our sites across the Borough."

Hayfever Information for Parents (May 2010)

As I am sure many of you are aware, we are well into the Summer hayfever season.

Please be aware that the school cannot offer treatment to your offspring unless medication is supplied on a named pupil basis only.

We do NOT have any supplies of antihistamine tablets, syrup, eye drops, nasal spray nor cream for the pupils.

If your child suffers with hayfever, please take them to their GP who can prescribe any or all of the above treatments for them free of charge. Please ensure they remember to take them before they come to school.

Thank you

Flu Pandemic Information (Updated - 16th Sept 2009)

There has been a confirmed case of H1N1 swine influenza in at The Piggott School.

The Government has announced a change in the national policy on swine flu, and advises
that generally schools should not close because of individual cases of swine flu. However,

  • it is still important to tell us if your child is diagnosed with swine flu.
  • Any child with flu symptoms should be kept at home.
  • Check their symptoms on www.nhs.uk, or call the Swine Flu information line on 0800 1 513 513, before contacting your doctor. Your doctor will then be able to provide a clinical diagnosis and appropriate advice on treatment over the phone.
  • We can all reduce the spread of infection by taking measures both in school and at home:
    1. Cover nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing, using a tissue when possible.
    2. Maintain good basic hygiene, for example washing hands frequently with soap and water to reduce the spread of virus from your hands to face or to other people.
    3. Disposing of dirty tissues promptly and carefully.
Cleaning hard surfaces (e.g. door handles) frequently using a normal cleaning product.
    4. Making sure children follow this advice.
