The Piggott School Extra Curricular
We consider extra-curricular activities to be an important part of any child’s overall education. However, no school can offer a good range of activities without the goodwill of its staff. The Piggott School is very fortunate in having a dedicated staff willing to give up their free time to organise a wide range of activities, not just at lunchtime and after school, but also during weekends and holidays. Sports
We offer a wide range of extra-curricular sport including, Rugby, Soccer, Cricket, Athletics, Cross Country, Badminton, Basketball, Netball, Tennis, Gymnastics and Creative Dance. Clubs operate in all these activities and all ability levels are welcome to attend. Inter School matches and competitions take place weekly and large numbers of pupils are involved.
Music & Drama
Choral singing is of a very high standard and there are concerts to which parents are invited. The choir also performs outside school for various groups and societies. The School orchestra performs regularly and contributes to the school concerts. There is also a School Jazz Band and String Group. All pupils who learn instruments in school are expected to participate in at least one of these groups.
Drama productions are a feature of The Piggott School and have ranged from well known musicals to exam performances presented by students studying GCSE and A levels.
Language Exchanges and Study Visits
These are organised to France, Spain and Germany and involve students in Years 8, 9, and 10. Year 12 language students participate in work experience in France and/or Germany. Those taking Spanish in the Sixth Form, take part in a study visit which includes daily language tuition.
The EU funded Comenius projects support the involvement of students and staff in an exciting range of international projects, training opportunities and networks.
Residential Visits
Trips are organised to France for Year 7 students and to a number of other countries for students in Years 8–12. Sixth formers are involved in outdoor education visits and subject based field work.
Day and Evening trips
A variety of day excursions are organised by departments to complement curricular work done in lessons. There are also evening visits, to the theatre, lectures and concerts.
