School Council

The Piggott School encourages all pupils to contribute to the smooth running of the School.  It encourages pupils to voice their opinion and consults the student body on changes of policy and school issues.

The School Council exists as a forum for pupils from all year groups to meet together and discuss topical issues.

Every tutor group elects two School Council representatives.

Half termly each tutor group holds a tutor council meeting where pupils can raise concerns.  The tutor representatives then take the minutes of their meeting to the year group council meeting where year group representatives meet together to discuss issues pertinent to the year group.  Finally two representatives from each year group take part in the full School Council meeting where they are able to raise their issues with other School Council representatives.

The Head Girl and Head Boy chair the School Council and take the main issues to the Senior leadership team where actions can be agreed.   It is hoped that the structure of the School Council gives pupils an insight into the democratic process.

The School Council has discussed issues ranging from School uniform to the school canteen.
