Another Amazing Year of GCSE Results at The Piggott School

I am very pleased to announce another outstanding set of GCSE results for The Piggott School. Our students and staff work incredibly hard and this is once again shown in this year’s results.

93% of pupils passed English and 88% passed mathematics GCSE at the new Level 4 or above (a level 4 is equivalent to a C grade). Our combined best English and mathematics Level 4+ pass rate was 85%.

Our %5A*-C/ Level 4+ including best English and mathematics is 84%.

We achieved a 100% pass rate in each of Biology, Chemistry, Chinese, Computer Science, DIDA, History, Media Studies, Performing Arts – Dance, Photography and Physics.

Amazing results were achieved in a range of other subjects with GCSE A*-C/ Level 4+ pass rates of 97% in Performing Arts – Drama, 96% in Art, 91% French, 91% Music, 91% Electronics and Sports studies at 90%! The lists continues with Food Technology achieving 89% GCSE A*-C/ Level 4+ pass rate, Combined Science was 87%, Geography 86%, Product design 85%,  85% in German and Textiles 82%!

Our Progress8 (P8) score for 2017, based on the national data set, was finalised at +0.94 in March 2018. This meant on average, every child, in every P8 subject, achieved nearly one grade higher than at an average school. Our 2018 P8 score, based on last year’s equivalencies, is currently higher than at this time last year. Our confirmed P8 score will be released to us in late September by the DfE.

The vast majority of our students will be returning to study at our sixth form, together with a significant number of external candidates in September.

I thank all the teaching and support staff for their continued hard work, dedication and professionalism. Congratulations to all our students on their richly deserved success, and thank you to all their parents for their unstinting support.
