Sporting Success

Congratulations to Matt and Zak Seldon who won their races at the English Schools Athletic Championships on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th July 2010. 

Zak won the 1500m Steeplechase and Matt the 1500m. Zak achieved a championship best performance and will now go to the internationals.

YR  3 Mini-Olympics

On Thursday 24th June The Piggott hosted a Year 3 mini-Olympics.  All year 3s from Polehampton junior, Colleton & Piggott Junior attended. Further info >>

During National sports week (28.6.10 – 2.7.10), The Piggott hosted a year 1 and year 2 Multi-skills event on Tuesday 29th June. Further info >

The Year 13 celebration evening took place on Wednesday 26th May.

PSA 2010 Quiz Night

The PSA 2010 Quiz Night was held on Friday 7th May 2010.

Year 10 Boston Trip

A group of year 10 students went on a very enjoyable exchange trip to Boston from 1st-12th April 2010.

The US exchange students will be visiting us in October.

Interface Prayer Group

The 1st Interfaith Prayer Groupwas held in April. This group will be meeting on the first Friday of every month in school term time. See Church Foundation page.

East Berkshire Schools Cup Triple Winners 2010

The boys football teams won ALL THREE FINALS:

U19’s: Piggott School 4, Bracknell & Wokingham College 0

U15’s: Piggott School 3, Bulmershe 0

U12’s: Piggott School 2, Maiden Erlegh 1

Berkshire Cup Runners Up

The Y7/8 girls football team did extremely well to reach the final in the Berkshire Cup but were outplayed by Waingels College.

The 70th Anniversary Concert was held on Thursday 25th March

Gym and Dance Display

The 2010 Gym and Dance Display took place on:

• Wednesday 17th March 1-2.50pm for Primary Schools.
• Thursday 18th March 7-9pm
• Friday 19th March 7-9pm.

Berkshire Rugby Champions 2010

CONGRATULATIONS to the 1st XV Rugby Team who beat Waingels College 40-0 to become Berkshire Rugby Champions 2010 on 10th March.

High Attainment Recognised

The Piggott School has been recognised for its high attainment in the 2009 GCSE exams at an awards ceremony held in London recently by the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust.

Young Engineers Club

The Piggott School Young Engineers club were invited to showcase their projects at The Big Bang: UK Young Scientists and Engineers Fair, in Manchester on 11th and 12th March.

Green Flag Award

On Monday 1st March, Councillor Barrie Patman, the Mayor of Wokingham, visited to present the school with the Eco-Schools Green Flag award.

Tutor groups have been challenged to find creative ways to raise money for the World Vision Haiti Appeal.

The total from all the events so far has reached a magnificent £2865 (1st March 2010). See Charities page.
