Silver Surfers’ Day 2010 - 21st May 2010
Following the successful Silver Surfers session that was held last year, The Piggott School will be running a further session this year, on Friday 21 May 2010.
The session that starts at 3.30pm until 4.45pm, is a drop in session for people over 55. It is an opportunity to have some brief training on any aspect of using a computer, e.g.
- use of internet,
- search engines,
- email,
- use of Microsoft Word, Excel, etc
Students from Year 10 will be on hand to help, guide and support. Last year’s session was extremely well attended and very worthwhile.
If you are interested and would like to register your interest or to find out further information please contact Gillian Maloney on 9704614 or gm@piggott.wokingham.sch.uk.
If we have sufficient interest it is hoped that we will be able to run a short course in the final weeks of the Summer Term.
Silver Surfers’ Day 2009 - Report
The Piggott School held a Silver Surfers’ Day on Friday 15th May 2009 as part of Adult Learners’ Week. Members of the community were invited to come in and work alongside Piggott students. The students provided individual support on any aspect of using a computer, tailored to their needs.
Both students and visitors were totally engaged in supporting and learning and it was extremely exciting watching young and old working together. On line shopping, holiday destinations and Skype were just some of the topics covered.
It is hoped that further courses will be arranged in the next academic year.
