All-Round Education
The Sixth Form at The Piggott School is not solely focused on academic success. We believe in an all-round education which provides students with skills which will equip them to become responsible and valued members of society. Extra-curricular activities lie at the heart of this vision.
Extra-Curricular Activities
The classic extra-curricular triumvirate of Sport, Music and Drama thrive in our Sixth Form.
- 1st XV rugby and 1XI football teams are highly successful on a local, and increasingly national, level; equally, both sports are seeing significant participation from female students in the Sixth Form.
- Netball is both popular and successful with regular fixtures against local schools.
- The standard of school music is highly impressive with large numbers of Sixth Form students participating in choirs, orchestras and bands, many at Grade 8 standard and higher.
- Sixth Form students usually take leading roles in school theatrical productions, of whom many go on to study Drama at university.
In addition, activities such as:
- public speaking,
- mock magistrate trials and
- debating are prominent.
Students travel with the school to countries as diverse as Cuba, China and Iceland and undertake work experience in France and Germany. The list of extra-curricular activities is long and always growing.
Standards across the range of extra-curricular areas are very high but we also value participation. It is often pursuing an activity that a student finds challenging which develops an individual and we acknowledge, recognise and prize such contributions. Qualities such as participation, commitment and challenge resonate here.
